This is one example of head covers that can protect the head from sunrays and rain. Bamboo stick is cut and split into tiny elastic strips that can be woven. This product is called caping. In fact the maker does not make the woven bamboo hat merely functional, but he treat it as a 

medium to satisfy his sense of art. This caping is painted with green oil-based paint—to make it waterproof—outside, and with water-based acrylic wall paints to make colorful ornaments inside.

When it is not the season to work in paddy fields, the women make baskets to kill their idle time. This collective basket weaving is a communal activity to maintain cohesiveness and togetherness. Here the women are finishing their bamboo baskets. Bamboo baskets are used for many purposes like for carrying vegetables, fruit, or food. This is a pile of baskets ready to be brought to the market.
